Morphology of the object: |
|
The elongated piece, convex on the lower part, presents on the upper part a sharp elongation and two sided, curved ones. The central rib on top of the aedicula ends in the above mentioned sharp elongation. Parallel ribs can be found on the entire surface, except the aedicula and the inscription field. Goddess Diana is represented in the aedicula (íÜéóêïò) sided by two convoluted columns, with vegetal pattern capitals and an ornamented roof also with vegetal patterns. The deity is turned towards the right side of the image, leaned on her left foot, holding the bow in her left hand and with the right hand drawing out an arrow from the quiver. She wears the Doric chiton and her hair is held in a loop. In the layout the, beyond her left foot we can see the hind. In aedicula, at the goddess’s feet, the letters DIA are engraved, with a thicker point. The inscription field is bellow and the edges are arched. Here the letters are scratched from the front, with a sharp point. Dia(nae) / Corne / lia Mar / cellin(a) |
